Born on July 5, 1953 to Delbert L Roberts Sr and Zylphia Crum Roberts from
Sopchoppy, FL. Two brothers John L Roberts (deceased) and Crandall D Roberts
(Tallahassee, FL) and one sister, Dianne R Gerrell (Crawfordville, FL). Born again by the
grace of God in 1959 and baptized in Sopchoppy First Baptist Church by Pastor, Ted
Rodder. Worked for the City of Tallahassee Power Generation Division from 1972 to
1975. Served as a deacon in Lake Ellen Baptist Church from 1972 to 1975. In June 1975
attended Florida Baptist Theological College graduating in January 1979 with a Bachelor
of Ministry in Biblical Studies. Ordained as requested by Pioneer Baptist Church in
December 1978 at Sopchoppy First Baptist Church. While in college served as Associate
Pastor of Northside Baptist Church from 1976 to 1978. Called as Pastor to Pioneer
Baptist Church in Crawfordville FL serving from Jan 1979 to Jan 1981. Served as interim
Pastor of Riverside Baptist Church in Panacea, FL from Jan 1981 to Jun 1981. Called as
Pastor to Lake Bradford Baptist Church, Tallahassee, FL in Jun 1981. Served as
bivocational Pastor until Jun 1996. Family moved to VA after taking early retirement as
Superintendent of System Control from City of Tallahassee Electric Department and took
a new position with an independent power producer in July 1996. In July 1999 joined an
energy consulting business, The Legacy Energy Group, LLC with a business partner in
Warrention VA and retired from secular work with Legacy Energy in June 2020. Called
as bivocational Minister of Youth and Music by Zoar Baptist Church in early 1997.
Continued to serve Zoar as Associate Pastor and Minister of Music from 1999 until called
as Pastor in 2018 when my pastor, mentor and friend, Pastor Arthur DeCourccy retired
after serving Zoar for 30 years.
Zoar Baptist Church is now 200 years old celebrating its 200 th birthday with
Homecoming on August 7, 2022. Zoar is a loving, Bible believing, mission minded
evangelical local body of Christ in Bristersburg VA. Zoar has a vibrant AWANA
program, Wednesday Bible Studies taught by Pastor DeCourcey and Zoar’s missions
include cooperative local, state, national and international missions through the Northstar
Association, Baptist General Assembly of VA and the Southern Baptist Convention. Zoar
also independently supports missions through Progressive Missions serving the
orphanage housing and schools ministry in Uganda, Trinity Baptist Church in Elodoret,
Kenya, English teaching missions in Nepal through ABWE International, V.E.T.NET
missions in Mongolia, Warrenton Pregnancy Center and AWANA Go (global outreach).
